Low-Calorie Kombucha Margarita

Low-Calorie Kombucha Margarita

With the silly season well and truly in full swing, we thought we would give you a fun and relatively healthy cocktail recipe that you can sip on this summer without putting your body into crisis mode.

As most of you know, most cocktails out there are jam-packed full of sugar. Top all of this sugar off with high doses of alcohol and your body will quickly start sending out the SOS signals (e.g. dry skin, fatigue, poor immune system, acne, skin rashes, black circles under eyes, dry lacklustre hair etc).

This recipe is simple and deliciously refreshing, and trust us when we say, you won’t miss the sickly sugary cocktails you use to drink. Kombucha is a great alternative to other beverages as it’s low in sugar and has the additional benefits of probiotics and enzymes that can help support gut health and digestion. Kombucha also contains antioxidants that can kill harmful bacteria and may help fight several diseases.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tequila, divided

  • ½ cup fresh lime juice (from 4 to 5 limes), divided

  • ½ cup fresh grapefruit juice (from 1 grapefruit), divided
  • 1 cup kombucha
  • Thinly sliced lime, for serving

  • Chopped mint to serve

Method

1. Combine tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and kombucha in a pitcher that is filled with ice. Stir and leave until chilled.
2. Pour mixed liquids over ice in 2 rocks glasses with salted rims
3. Top each glass with lime slices and mint.
